My Uncomfortable Place transformeert het heiligdom van het bed in een rauwe plek van ontworteling en spanning. Het installatiewerk is gebeeldhouwd uit met de hand gebroken Belgische zwarte hardsteen, samengebonden met donkere woldraden, en weerspiegelt de emotionele wrijving van migreren en aarden in een vreemd land. Door toeschouwers uit te nodigen tot interactie—of zelfs om op de scherpe, koude stenen te gaan liggen—vertaalt het werk het onzichtbare gewicht van een omgeving die bureaucratisch verwelkomt, maar menselijk afstandelijk blijft. Het is een krachtige, poëtische verkenning van kwetsbaarheid, veerkracht en het universele verlangen naar geborgenheid.

My Uncomfortable Place transforms the sanctuary of the bed into a visceral site of displacement and tension. Sculpted from hand-fractured local Belgian black stone bound with dark wool filaments, the installation echoes the emotional friction of migrating and adapting to a foreign land. By inviting viewers to interact with—or even lie upon—the sharp, cold stone, the work physically translates the unseen weight of feeling bureaucratically welcomed yet humanly alien. It is a stark, poetic exploration of vulnerability, resilience, and the universal search for belonging.
