SWAY
With an impressive size of 8 by 5 meters, SWAY is a monumental and interactive artwork that literally sets people in motion. The swing invites participation and evokes a playful sense of freedom, childhood, and security.
In this experience, strength and surrender merge. SWAY serves as a meeting point and a space for reflection, where art and play come together. With this work, Micky Hoogendijk creates a unifying gesture in public space – a place where memory, movement, and humanity converge.
The creation of the work took nine months and started with a small sketch, as seen in the photo. The bronze sculpture weighs 3,500 kilograms and was produced using the traditional sand-casting method.
Micky Hoogendijk creates monumental sculptures intended as landmarks in public spaces. They invite encounter and reflection, and act as mirrors for society. Her art connects and encourages people to look at themselves and the world in a different way.
By transforming personal experiences into universal symbolism, her works give form to themes such as vulnerability, strength, and connectedness.
Micky especially invites you to take a photo with the swing and tag her and us on Instagram and/or Facebook: @mickyhoogendijk & @bigartgarden
