"Through the eyes of others, I see myself; time has shaped me. Through photography and bronze, I give form to this journey—a quest for self-awareness and the inseparable bond with the other."
— Micky Hoogendijk
Time shapes us, just as it shapes the world around us. It softens memories, deepens experiences, and molds our identity—both visibly and invisibly. Sculpted by Time reflects on this continuous transformation.
This solo exhibition unites photography and sculpture in an exploration of the human experience. From intimate portraits to monumental bronze sculptures, the relationship between the individual and the collective is always central.
Through photography, I captured the faces of others—mirrors in which I sought traces of myself. Faces full of mystery, vulnerability, and strength, revealing hidden truths. The female form—celebrated, explored, and reimagined—became a central theme in my work, a quest to understand femininity in all its complexity.
In The Ones, connection takes on a tangible form. Bronze figures—sometimes intertwined, sometimes separate, but always in dialogue—represent the visible and invisible threads that weave us together.
At the heart of this journey stands SWAY, the centrepiece of the exhibition. An eight-meter-tall figure holds a swing—an object that is both playful and profound. The swing, suspended in silence, invites movement. It calls for participation, for surrendering to the rhythm. Between the weight of the past and the lightness of the present, between grounding and flight, SWAY creates a space for reflection, freedom, and the rediscovery of the child within us.
This exhibition invites you to reflect: How does time shape us—physically and mentally? How are memories and experiences anchored in matter and art?
