Margo Nelissen
"Artistic jewellery – wearable and personal."
Margo Nelissen is a Dutch jewellery designer who has been creating both unique pieces and small themed collections for nearly thirty years. Her body of work grows organically, like new branches on a tree. She regularly explores new techniques, which in turn offer her fresh possibilities to shape her ideas.
Margo’s work has been selected for exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including as far as Japan. Recently, several of her pieces were featured in the book New Earrings: 500+ Contemporary Jewellery Designs.
Since spending several years living and working in the Caribbean, Margo has been deeply inspired by the underwater world and the lush tropical environment. This influence is clearly visible in her recent collections. Refined coral textures and vibrant natural forms inspire series such as Secret Garden, Island Reflections and Coral Blossom.
The theme Hidden forms the basis for a jewellery collection with a clear inside and outside. These pieces can be worn in various ways. The exterior acts as a protective shell—like a spiky fruit guarding its precious interior. How the piece is worn reveals whether you shield yourself from the outside world or open up to others.
